3D computer modeling

This asset is for the english office style look, there are 2 parts to this asset, first is the desktop computer, and the other is the monitor.

We can start off with the desktop becuase I believe this doesn't need much detail nor time to create it. You can also use this desktop as a size reference for the monitor.

This simple desktop is just a cube polygon primitive with its Y value scaled upwards to lengthen it to a rectangle, the shape of a desktop. Most of the detail comes from texturing with this asset, as there isn't much to model. I could add rubber feet/stands or maybe a bevel but due to its lack of precence within the video it would be more time efficient to spend this time elsewhere.

Here is just the base of the model we can add detail to, once again the monitor is practically a cube primitave stretched out and squashed to make a thin rectangle.
To add detail and the monitor stand we should add subdivisions, just like the desk in this project. As you can see in the object attributes section of my interface in the screenshot, I have set my subdivison width to 9, I found this to work best with what I want to do, but any number can work, its easier to work with higher numbers as a higher number means more detail and more polygons to work with.
To add the stand, navigate so you are looking at the middle bottom face of your monitor, select that face by pressing F11 on your keyboard to enable face selection. After selecting this face, extrude this face and pull down until you want the length that you desire for your stand. If you like, you can press 3 to scale this new extruded face down to make it seem like the stand will connect to a bottom. With this new face, extrude it again, but this time extrude outwards to make the bottom foot of the monitor so it can stand upright.
Here is what my monitor looks like so far, in the future steps we can start to add detail of smaller importance such as bevel.
If you look at any monitor or TV you will find that it has a bevel that comes out where the screen ends. I will no be creating this by using offset-loops.

Select the offset loop feature found in edit mesh at the top of your Maya interface, after selecting this you can now insert more edges where you would like. I made a border edge around the monitor so there it seems like a square inside a square.
By using the new faces you have created from the insert edge loops you can extrude from them and pull them outwards to create a bevel. This completes the monitor look.
Now it is just exporting! Use the game exporter and fill in the path and file name as explained in the previous blog post.
